If relaxing on the tropical island of Gran Canaria is not enough, visitors to the island also have the opportunity to visit the luxury Corallium Spa in Costa Meloneras.

Just walking into the spa area at the Corallium Spa sets the senses alight. From the relaxing sounds, delicious smells and peaceful environment, guests know they have entered another realm.

What to Expect at the Corallium Spa

Upon arrival at the spa, guests are provided with a robe, towel, sandals/slippers and a locker key that is worn around the wrist. Guests continue to wear their swimming costumes throughout the spa, except on special nude days, which are clearly advertised. After placing items in the lockers and changing, staff explain to guests in a central station, how to use the first three rooms of the spa. Staff are available at this central station to explain the further rooms and exchange wet towels for dry ones. There is also water available at the central station, as well as near the Hamam room.

The Corallium Spa Rooms

  • Relax Zone ‘Womb Room’ - This is the first room that guests visit at the spa. The room contains waterbeds that guests relax on. Soothing spa music, a warm temperature and pleasant aroma begin the relaxation process.
  • Salt Grotto - This second room, contains salt on the ground to exfoliate the feet and has built-in benches for guests to relax on.
  • Saline Steam Room - The Saline Steam Room is a black marble with gold tile, steam room. In the centre is a pyramid, which releases the steam; on either side are two black cat statures whose eyes reflect in the single, green light that comes from the ceiling.
  • Reflex Zone - Individuals are encouraged to walk around a small grotto five times. The grotto floor is lined with small to medium sized, white pebbles, which are intended to press specific points on the feet. The grotto is filled to knee-high level with ice-cold water.
  • Lagoon - After the cold of the Reflex Zone the Lagoon offers some warmer relaxation time. The Lagoon has two secluded seating areas and a waterfall, which cascades down in the middle of the Lagoon.
  • Aqua Dome - The Aqua Dome features three showers in one, each of which is started with the press of a button. The showers range from hard pressure, cold water to light mist, warm water.
  • Cozy Wall - The Cozy Wall is a vertical wall that guests lean against. Warm water runs down the wall.
  • Hamam - The Hamam is a traditional Turkish style steam room complete with music, lamps and a large sink/fountain in the middle.
  • Lava Dome Relaxation Room - A room for relaxing and cooling down. Guests recline on wicker loungers and watch the changing coloured lights whilst listening to the lava like sounds.
  • Lava Float Pool - A medium sized flotation pool in a cave like atmosphere, complete with a painted night sky and blinking stars.
  • African Sauna - A large wooden sauna with three levels, music and a light display
  • Ice World and Igloo - Guests walk through a room made of ice covered walls and can partake in an ice-cold shower.

Make Use of the Private Pool and Spa Treatments

Guests of the spa also have exclusive access to the outdoor pool, whirlpool, plunge pool and sun lounge area. This pool area is just as nice as the pool areas of the Lopesan Gran Hotel Meloneras, with the added advantage of being less crowded, more private and has lounge chairs that have cushions on them.

The spa also offers a variety of over eighty treatments, including a four-hand massage and a sun lovers body polish. Spa treatments are not included in the spa day experience price and require booking one to three days in advance.

Gran Canaria is an island of good food, sunshine and cultural experience. However, for those visitors with relaxation in mind, then a visit to the luxurious Corallium Spa in Costa Meloneras is a must. The sumptuous spa contains a set of spa rooms for guests to float through, traditional spa treatments and private pool facilities.
